Reincarnation is an integral part of many religion and cultures around the world. In Nigeria, Reincarnation is strongly entrenched in the Yoruba culture.
Reincarnation known as Atunwaye in the Yoruba language could be the rebirth of an ancestor "ipadawaye" or a child who is locked in an abiku-loop so that they are born-to-die, and are reborn all over again.
The Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria call certain children Ogbanje. It is believed that an Ogbanje child gets reborn to the same mother each time.
No I don't believe in reincarnation. The the belief is a key feature in many cultures and religion around me. A child suspected of being in a life and death loop of reincarnation is marked before burial so that he can easily be identified once they get reborn.
I believe children born with such marks are a simple coincidence, birth defect or the work of spiritism.
Imagine a couple and both of them have the sickle cell traits, there is a high probability that that family will have a lot of dead children and the children born will come up to have similar problems.
We did not know anything about sickle cell anemia at that time and it could have been the spirit behind the "Abiku", "Ogbanje" or "Esenemana" child

I believe at death, a person is out of existence completely. It will only need intervention from the maker of heaven and earth to bring that person back to life.
If reincarnation was true, people will get smarter each time they comeback to live again. A person should be able to say, in my past life I wrote this article and took second position because I mentioned this point and now I am writing again.
Proponents of the idea of reincarnation often believe that the reincarnated person gets born to the same woman or in the same family and the reincarnated person also retains characteristics, features and prefrences as he had in his previous life
Coming back to the same family will make it possible for the person to continue the previous relationship, a reincarnated Carpenter should become more proficient in his carpentry work as he comes back to do the same carpentry work each time he is reborn.

If reincarnation were real I like the way I'm and I love to be born just as I am but with very little adjustment. Why I like to maintain being me is because I believe in the fact that "the devil I know is better than an unknown angel"
So I better leave this life where I will have a lot of familiar things I can remember then leave a life in which everything will be stranger new.
I will be able to tell the outcome of many decisions and decide whether to make the same plan or mistake or change it. Like in the movie called Edge of Tomorrow each cycle will make me better at the next cycle.
I in conclusion i personally do not believe in the concept of reincarnation, but that does not mean that you must not believe in it, because it's a free world. I am not trying to win you over, I am just telling you that I don't believe in reincarnation.

I am glad you learned from this post. Most people that believe in reincarnation do not sit back to think of it twice. Some just believe because they were born to hear about it and followed suit without proper understanding of reincarnation

Yes, it might be out of coincidence that one who is born with the same mark as the one who is dead that made most to believe in reincarnation.
In fact, there is no concrete evidence to believe in that because the Almighty has explained to us the condition of the dead and the hope that awaits them.
We are all distinct and have the ability to learn and imitate others. A carpenter leard it and not that he is born with it.

You have scattered some new points on reincarnation. I see you having some depth in this as you said that some of the reasons why people believe is birthmarks and the other coincidences. These out of the box things compel person to think out of the box. I think this concept is not ideal for everyone.
It may be true for some souls whereas may not.
